What’s so fun about gachagacha machines?
Gachagacha machines were introduced to Japan from the United States in 1965, and this year marks their 60th anniversary.
Insert a coin and turn the handle—this unchanging experience has been packed with the excitement of each era.
In recent years, the quality of products has improved dramatically, and the lineup has become more diverse.
Sometimes, items that make you wonder, “Why did they make that!?” have become hugely popular,
and adults are genuinely captivated by the intricacy of the miniatures.
Gachagacha has grown beyond its practicality into a culture that moves the heart.
It has evolved in a unique way in Japan and is now in what is being called the “fourth boom.” It is loved by people of all ages and genders, especially adult women, as a form of entertainment that is accessible to everyone.

A special exhibition unravelling the current state of gachagacha culture
This exhibition will bring together a selection of exquisite gacha masterpieces, proudly created by manufacturers who support Japan’s gacha culture.
From exquisite figurines to hilarious merchandise and inventive concept items, the exhibition will introduce the “deep world” of gacha gacha from a cultural perspective.
The passion of the people who plan gacha products, the spirit of inquiry of the creators who pay close attention to detail, and the appeal of gacha, which is in tune with the times and needed by people.
Why has the culture of gachagacha continued to be so beloved?
This exhibition systematically and entertainingly “dissects” the reasons behind this.
